Motions for 31 August 2013

Senior Motions:

Prepared Motions:

• THW impose a mandatory minimum sentence for all jailable offences.
• THW ban religious organisations from claiming the ability to heal without scientific proof.

Topics for Unprepared Motions:

• The world of superheroes  vs  Reality. Can the two intertwine? And can one (i.e. The government, perhaps) impose certain obligations over the other (i.e. Superheroes).
• Western principles and ideologies on what constitutes beauty vs Pan-African principles on beauty.

Junior Motions:

Prepared Motions:

• THW introduce special schools for LGBTI (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender individuals).
• THW require all girls by the age of thirteen to receive contraceptives.

Topics for Unprepared Motions:

• The impact of social networking (i.e. Consequences, possible advantages, relevance)
• Wildlife conservation efforts vs The display of animals for public enjoyment (edu-tainment)

Two important notes:

1. Preparation time for unprepared motions will be 20 minutes long.
2. Learners will not be allowed to carry any electronic devices for the duration of the tournament.
